Shopping

Why do I need to make an appointment to try on wedding gowns?

In order for Mary’s to offer you an unique and enjoyable shopping experience in an intimate and comfortable setting. Our team of knowledgeable style consultants will assist you in finding not only a dress that fits you, but one that shows your individual personality within your time frame and budget.

How long is my appointment?

Bridal gown appointments are approximately 90 minutes.

What should I bring to my Bridal Appointment?

Bring pictures of dresses you’ve seen on our website, in magazines, online or that you’ve tried on elsewhere. And bring an open mind: don’t be surprised if you find “the dress” on your first visit to Mary’s Bridal. We have plenty shoes and undergarments for you to use when you try on gowns.

Who should I bring to my Appointment?

Bring the closest friend or family member whose opinion you value and who knows you well and with whom you want to share the experience of buying your gown. Bringing more than 2 others can take the focus off of you. In fact, when shopping for your Wedding Gown all the Bridal Magazine experts advise NOT to bring too many people.

What size gowns are available for me to try on?

Most of our Collection gowns are real woman sizes from size 0 through size 32. We also carry the largest selection of designer Curvy Couture Wedding Dresses available.

May I take pictures of the gowns I try on?

Our designers do not allow cameras in the boutique while you are shopping. Once you have purchased your dress, you may take as many pictures as you would like to commemorate your most special day.

When should I order my veil and headpiece?

Special-order designer veils have a 6 to 8 months lead-time, so making a decision at the time you order your gown is desirable. If needed at your first fitting, you can order a custom veil which we’ll make for you on premise.

Can I complete my entire look in one Appointment?

Absolutely! Most Brides find their dress on their first visit to our salon, and they also find all their accessories (veils, headpieces, shoes, jewelry etc) on their first visit.

Do I need to make an appointment to look at Jewelry?

You may walk in at any time to look at jewelry Monday-Friday. Appointments are required on Saturdays and Sundays. Appointments are required for all veils and headpieces any day of the week.

Buying

Does Mary’s offer shoes?

Mary’s is proud to offer over 4,000 styles of Bridal and Social Occasion shoes. Please visit our shoe department on our website Marys.com.

How far in advanced do I need to buy my gown?

Brides Magazine, among others, recommends anywhere between 10-12 months.

What is a special order gown?

Most of the gowns we sell are special-order. A special-order gown is made specifically for you by a designer, based on the measurements we take from you, the designer then uses their pattern that is closest to your measurements to create your gown. We then fit it to perfection for your body.

Can I get a Swatch of color from my gown?

We will be happy to take a small sample from your actual dress when it arrives from the designer; as dye lots vary widely, this will give you the best color to use for matching.

What should I bring to my fitting?

You should bring the shoes and undergarments you’ll wear on your wedding day in order to have your gown properly fit through the bodice and hemline. Plan to come to the store at least 30 minutes before your fitting appointment to purchase them, if you haven’t already.

How many fittings will I need?

Usually, brides require 2-3 fittings to ensure a perfect look. After the final fitting, we will press and pack your gown for you to take home or for shipping.

Will you ship my gown out of state?

Not a problem. We can ship a dress anywhere you’d like. Shipping fees apply.

What is a Trunk Show?

A trunk show is a special in-store event, lasting one to three days, where you can view and buy from a Designer’s latest collection months before they hit the stores. The designer and or their representatives are usually at the salon during a trunk show. If you find the dress of your dreams at a trunk show, be prepared to make your decision that day, as the gown will not be in the salon once the trunk show is over. Mary’s hosts a different trunk show every Month of the year.

HELP! I’m getting married in less than 4 months- is it too late to get a gown from you?

No, it’s not too late, but every second counts! Your options include buying one of our Designer samples off the rack or working with a consultant to determine which designers can meet your time frame for your “special order” gown, which could include an additional rush charge.

What is a Rush Order?

If your wedding date is sooner than the time we typically need to have a special-order gown made, we’ll need to consult with the designer and place a “rush” order, for an additional fee. In this instance, your gown may arrive 1-3 weeks before your wedding and details will be outlined in your contract.

One Final Reminder: It is strongly recommended that you not bring children or babies to a bridal salon.

If you or the friends who shop with you have children, arrange for a sitter. Your Wedding Gown choice is one of the most important decisions you will make for your wedding and you don’t want to worry about where they have run off to or worry about them getting hurt by loose pins or other hazards around the boutique. Be prepared! Our Gowns sell quickly and we want you get to the Gown you love Most! So be prepared to purchase the Gown the same day you visit.
